Teen Therapy

Does My Teen Need Therapy?

When it comes to prioritizing a teen’s mental health, most parents will stop at nothing to ensure that their child is taken care of emotionally and mentally, but how do you know when it’s time to extend that help past your home? For many parents, the idea of their teen needing additional support may seem foreign, but in cases where you feel like your teen is shutting you out and distancing themselves, therapy can be a great solution for providing them a space to explore what may be bothering them without the fear of judgment or criticism.

At Willamette Wellness Center, we recognize the unique troubles that teens and adolescents face in today’s world. With the constant pressure of academics, family, peer groups, and social media, your teen may be feeling like there is nowhere they can turn to escape the demands and responsibilities that are being thrown at them. This is where we can step in to help.

Teen therapy isn't just for "problems." It's a space to:

  • Understand better yourself
  • Develop healthy coping strategies
  • Improve relationships
  • Build resilience for life’s challenges
  • Set and achieve personal goals

An Inclusive Therapeutic Space

No matter who you are, where you come from, or how you identify, you’re welcome here. We’re proud to be a safe space for LGBTQ+ teens, BIPOC youth, and anyone who’s ever felt like they don’t quite fit in. Our diverse team of therapists reflects the community we serve, and we’re committed to understanding and celebrating your unique experiences. Currently WWC has therapists on staff who have advanced training in teen therapy and are able to provide online sessions for teens aged 14 years and older.

How Can Therapy Help?

Teenagers are often asked to grow up faster than they may feel ready for. They are faced with life changes that may involve confronting big transitions like middle and high school, going through emotional, mental, and physical transformations that feel unexpected, or simply walking through life with a bigger and brighter perspective that seems entirely new to them. We are here to help your teen find their path in life by meeting them where they are so that they can continue to grow into the person they want to be, one step at a time.

At WWC we have therapists who are specifically trained in treating teens and adolescents to better understand the anxiety, depression, or stress they may be feeling so that they can learn how to overcome the things that cause them worry or pain and move forward with the confidence to believe in themselves and their actions.
