Castine Friberg
LPC
Licensed Professional Counselor, Clinical Director
Hello my name is Castine and I would be honored to work with you! My pronouns are: she/hers
My work as a counselor is guided by the underlying belief that you are the expert of your experience. In my work with clients, I approach our time together with gentle curiosity and abounding compassion. I am not interested in telling you how to live your life, but I am interested in helping you discover the kind of life that you want to live. If you are here seeking therapy, you know that life is confusing, difficult, unexpected, and quite frankly disappointing at times. Admitting these realities and working to accept them is a crucial step in the process of moving through pain and into triumphant healing. I also want to acknowledge that if you are seeking therapy, you have an inkling that life is worth fighting for. I admire you for the bravery that it takes to even consider the idea of facing hard things and I look forward to the opportunity to face them with you. If there is anything I have learned in my work as a counselor, it is that avoidance is easy but ultimately unsatisfying.
A little bit about me… My journey toward becoming a mental health professional began at an early age as I was deeply impacted by both the beauty and pain of human connection. It was within the context of healing relationships that I was able to find my own strength and resilience to heal and grow. Those impactful experiences inspired me to pursue a path toward a career in mental health. I strongly believe that personal healing is the ultimate expression of freedom. I am honored to work with a practice that unapologetically advocates for trauma-informed care for individuals that have experienced trauma, abuse, judgment, oppression, and marginalization. Small-scale and large-scale trauma impacts humanity more than we could ever know and working through trauma provides the strength to take hold of personal healing, self-advocacy, and restorative freedom.
