CSWA
Clinical Social Work Associate
Hi, my name is Katie Mahaffie. It’s nice to meet you! My pronouns are She/Her.

I see therapy as a collaborative process, one where my role is to help support individuals’ development of self-love and compassion. Therapy is a safe space to start this process, deconstruct shame, and feel all your emotions in a non-judgmental space.
My passions within therapy include working through trauma, life transitions, grief and loss, and anxiety. I enjoy working primarily with adolescents and young adults, and believe people are the experts of their experiences. I believe in autonomy and choice for all humans, and center this in the therapeutic relationship.
I chose a career in therapy because I believe all parts of people deserve to be heard, loved, and understood. In addition to person-centered therapy, I integrate somatic and mindfulness practices, narrative therapy, cognitive behavioral therapy, and internal family systems all with a trauma-responsive lens.
Congrats on taking the first step to support yourself through seeking support from others. I’m looking forward to being on the journey with you!
2016: Bachelor of Arts in Sociology and Anthropology, Denison University
2024: Master’s in Social Work, Colorado State University
I have experience and passion for working with adolescents, survivors of trauma (specifically interpersonal and domestic violence), youth survivors, folks with anxiety and depression, and pregnant, birthing, and postpartum individuals. My approach is relational and person-centered, utilizing modalities like narrative therapy, cognitive behavioral therapy, psycho-education, and somatic/mindfulness practices.
