Katie Way

PCA

Professional Counseling Associate

Hello my name is Katie Way, it is nice to meet you.

My pronouns are she/hers.

I chose to follow this path in mental health after experiencing my own challenges as well as witnessing other navigating their own life experiences, and recognizing that as relational beings, we can benefit greatly from having someone walk alongside us through those experiences. My primary goal is to collaborate with you on deepening your understanding of how you came to where you are now, and assist you in increasing your range of emotional and cognitive skills to challenge ideas, beliefs, and patterns that no longer serve you.  I want to empower you to recognize your strengths, be able to feel grounded in the present, and gain hope for the future.  I foster a safe and trusting environment through learning and listening rather than applying a symptom based formula to treatment.

I utilize a person-centered approach to therapy, meaning I believe that the individual is the expert on their life.  Working from this approach, I can incorporate other evidence based therapies I am trained in including Psychodynamic Therapy, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT), Mindfulness, Motivational Interviewing (MI), ACT, Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing Therapy (EMDR), and Gottman Method for Couples Counseling.  All of my approaches are trauma informed and strength based.

Some of my specialties include working with adults, adolescents 14 and older, couples, and I can treat anxiety, depression, trauma, addiction, relationship issues, life transitions, grief, loss, ADHD, neurodiversity, spiritual abuse recovery, and chronic pain/chronic illness issues, amongst others. My passion is in helping one experience transformational growth and healing.

I look forward to working with you!
