Maia Penchansky
PCA, NCC
Professional Counselor Associate, National Certified Counselor, Assistant Manager, Compliance Officer
Hello, my name is Maia, it is nice to meet you! My pronouns are She/Her.

I view therapy as a creative and collaborative process between therapist and client. As your therapist, I will help you connect with your internal strengths to support your healing process. My therapeutic work is done through a systemic lens that allows me to confront issues of oppressions like classism, sexism, and racism, and sizeism. I use a humanist perspective (supportive of your agency as a unique individual) as well as systemic theories (the interaction of who we are and our environments) in my work. My counseling style can be spontaneous and intuitive to meet the needs of my clients, and in many cases I use Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Emotionally Focused Therapy, Internal Family Systems, Narrative Therapy, and somatic approaches. Most of all, I believe that you are the expert of your own life and have the internal wisdom to make lasting and sustainable change that aligns with your core values. It is my job as your therapist to meet you where you are in your journey and reflect your strengths and motivation back to you to help you cultivate a meaningful and authentic life.
I have extensive experience at all levels of care treating clients with eating disorders and have worked alongside a multitude of strong, resilient clients with complex, varied pasts and co-occurring symptoms. Originally practicing as an eating disorder dietitian, I found myself wanting to support clients at a deeper level, which led me to seek additional training as a mental health therapist. Through personal and professional experience, I know that our journeys are not always linear or predictable, but I believe that with the right tools and support, we can absolutely achieve a life worth living. I look forward to joining you in this journey!
