Shayna MacLean
LPC
Licensed Professional Counselor
Hello, and welcome! My name is Shayna MacLean, pronounced Shay-na, and my pronouns are she/her.
I am a Licensed Professional Counselor in the state of Oregon who specializes in providing Queer and Trans competent services, from an eclectic trauma informed perspective. I received a Bachelor of Science in Anthropology from Southern Oregon University and I went on to complete my Masters in Professional Mental Health Counseling at Lewis and Clark with a focus on advocacy and activism. I identify as a part of the LGBTQIAP2S+ community and have spent the majority of my career working specifically with clients who are a part of this community as well.
I am passionate about serving marginalized communities who have previously experienced harm within the mental health system as a result of institutionalized biases and white supremacy. Additionally, I specialize in working with folx transitioning into adulthood, individuals exploring their various identities, and survivors of trauma related to domestic violence and sexual assault. I provide individual therapy services from an eclectic trauma informed lens that pulls from modalities including: Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Emotion Focused Therapy, Person-Centered Therapy, Motivational Interviewing, and more to create a trauma informed, supportive space. I additionally practice with a Health at Every Size approach, and believe in meeting every client where they are at throughout the therapeutic process.
I am continually working on furthering my own growth and education as a clinician and as a person. I believe that there is not a one size fits all approach to therapy, and I strive to make sure that each of my clients receives the individualized support that they deserve. In the first handful of sessions, our work will focus on building a strong therapeutic relationship in which we adapt the therapeutic environment to your functioning, needs, and goals. I often utilize creativity and humor within the therapeutic relationship and process. Everything falls on a spectrum and as such I work with my clients to adapt to their needs, set healthy boundaries, explore identities, and process various life experiences and traumas.”
