Professional Counseling Associate

Hello my name is Jules and it is nice to meet you!  My pronouns are She/Her/Hers

In my practice, it is important to understand systemic oppression as it affects marginalized communities, including BIPOC and LGBTQIAP2S+, with consideration of cultural events and generational trauma that affect our mental well being. Another perspective relevant to my practice is the inclusion of feminism and a sex positive belief system. An important component in my practice is eliminating stigma behind mental health issues and creating a dialogue that further removes us from the concept of “normal.”

Everyone has memories of times in their lives where they felt the safest, and I’m driven to help others create their own sense of safety and develop personal strengths utilizing evidence-based practices. My clinical approach focuses on challenging negative thought processes, reducing emotional reactions toward trauma and developing effective coping mechanisms to improve your mental well being. My clinical approach draws from Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Dialectical Behavior Therapy, Internal Family Systems, Narrative Therapy, and Interpersonal and Social Rhythm Therapy, while seeking methods to understand you as an individual.

I work with a trauma informed lens, treating adults presenting with issues related to depression, self harm, anxiety, PTSD, grief and loss, history of abuse, generational trauma, sexual assault, gender dysphoria, and sexuality. As well, I support individuals seeking gender affirming letters. In my practice, embracing a trauma informed lens means treating trauma as multifaceted while avoiding re-traumatization. I received a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology from Texas A&M University- Corpus Christi and went on to complete a Master of Education in Counseling and Development from Lamar University.

My goal is to establish a therapeutic relationship with creativity and curiosity in all sessions as it promotes further developing a connection based on authenticity and meaning. Beginning the therapeutic process can be intimidating, but it doesn’t have to be when you establish your comfort level and I follow your lead. I look forward to meeting you!

In my personal life, I’m an artistic and creative person who enjoys visiting museums, gardening, reading books with a cup of coffee, and snuggling my dachshund, Ranger.
