Hello! I am a singlet originally from Michigan who has been in the Portland area for six years. I enjoy how the PNW is a nice combination of nature and city-scape, which fuels my hobbies of hiking and exploring new restaurants. In my off-time I enjoy playing TTRPGs like D&D, going to conventions, relaxing with my cat Kaladin, and reading fantasy books.
My therapeutic approach is largely conversational, utilizing Rogerian and humanistic ideologies such as unconditional positive regard and a client-centered orientation. Through this method, I apply techniques from Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) to explore unspoken thoughts and emotions that tend to get in the way of our everyday lives. I supplement with further evidence-based modalities such as Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and Motivational Interviewing to address individual complexities in presentation. In essence, I conduct therapy by getting to know you as a unique individual, and from there explore what thoughts, feelings, and needs have been unrecognized and/or unmet.
Although I enjoy working with teens, I have experience working with all age groups and a variety of presentations. At present, I am pursuing continuing education to specialize in complex trauma and dissociative disorders as I have recognized an ever-growing need in the therapy space for such specialists. I have experience working with several systems and hope to aid those who experience severe dissociation achieve a state of perceived safety and contentment.
To me, therapy is a collaborative process based on trust, safety, and collaboration. I recognize that taking the first step to come and embrace change is a scary one, but once you are here we can walk the rest of the road together.
